Ford commissioned Pexim Australia to solve a problem of fallout
from the clear coat exhaust stack located on the factory roof (20m high). The matter was
of great urgency considering its environmental nature. Within 60 days , Pexim Australia
designed, manufactured and installed a new filter house on the Top Coat Facility Roof,
complete with neccessary services (power, lights, sprinklers, storm water etc). Hot dip
galv.support structure, filter house constructed from cool room panels, custom designed
filter modules, exhaust ductwork with sampling ports for EPA, access walkways and ladders.
To achieve installation during a very limited downtime (Christmas shutdown), the facility
was partly assembled in our factory. It was then transported and assembled completely at
the Ford site. In the end, as a complete structure it was lifted with a 140 ton capacity
crane to the TCF roof. This approach also provided a very safe working site for our crew.
The final stage of the installation consisted of an access walkway, handrails and building
of the filter house enclosure around the filter frames.
